One avenue we use to reach individuals with substance use disorder is a very subtle, yet impactful, gesture of leaving cards around the community which contain:
1. Personal, handwritten notes of hope and encouragement to people who are lost in the darkness of addiction. It is our hope the message will hit them in just the right place in their heart, at just the right painful moment, and that they take a moment to stop and consider the possibility of change.
2. Contact information for local resources that support recovery from substance use disorder.
3. A white butterfly bead, a small token that can be kept as a reminder of our effort should the individual choose to disregard the information provided.
People who find our cards will be reminded that there are support services available to them, it is possible for them to change their lives, and there is love all around them. By including a handwritten message in our cards, we provide a more impactful, personal connection with the person who reads it. The inclusion of the handwritten note is what sets Project White Butterfly’s outreach apart from other efforts!
Simply: WRITE ENCOURAGING NOTES and GET THEM TO US! To give you an idea of what to write, imagine this: One of your loved ones standing in front of you, completely hopeless and saying the only life they know how to live is a life of drug use and isolation. What would you say to them? Write that message in your note.
Please mail your notes to: Project White Butterfly 7452 Broadview Road, Box 148 Parma, OH 44134
